2048

2048 is the sliding number puzzle where matching tiles merge into bigger ones. This version runs in your browser on a phone or a PC, with no download.

You play on a 4 by 4 board. Swipe up, down, left or right, or use the arrow keys or W, A, S and D, and every tile slides as far as it can in that direction. When two tiles with the same number touch, they join into one tile with double the value. After each move a new tile, usually a 2 and sometimes a 4, appears. Keep merging to build a 2048 tile.

Your score goes up with every merge, and the best score is shown at the top. When you make 2048, a message lets you choose between Keep going and starting a New game, so you can chase even bigger tiles. The game ends when the board is full and no moves are left. You get one free undo per game and can step back through your last moves. A game in progress is saved, so you can leave and Resume it later.

Tips: pick a corner and keep your biggest tile there, move in only two or three directions most of the time, and avoid breaking up your row of large tiles.
