Snakes & Ladders Party

Snakes & Ladders Party is the traditional Indian board game, known at home as saap seedhi, rebuilt as a clean, colourful game you can play in your browser on a phone or a computer, with nothing to download.

Choose two to four players. Each colour can be a CPU or a person, so you can play alone or pass one phone around the family. Tap to roll the die, and your token hops along the zigzag path from 1 towards 100. Land at the foot of a ladder to climb it. Land on a snake's head and it swallows you, then you slide down to its tail. A 6 lets you roll again, but three 6s in a row lose your turn. By default you need the exact number to land on 100, and you can turn that off on the start screen.

There are seven boards. The Festival Courtyard keeps the plain classic rules and is always open. Finish a game to unlock the next board, each with its own colours and one new rule: vine swings in the jungle, umbrellas that stop one snake in a monsoon village, swap carpets in a night bazaar, a sand snake that moves around a desert fort, two-way ice caves on a snow pass, and lucky stars at the Grand Mela, where every rule comes together.

It is a game of luck, so anyone can win. A tip for the umbrella board: you can only carry one umbrella at a time, and the next snake you meet uses it up.
