Tic-Tac-Toe Tournament

Tic-Tac-Toe Tournament turns the classic game of noughts and crosses into a short knockout run. It plays in your browser on a phone or a PC, with no download, and you play against the computer rather than other people.

You are X and the CPU is O. Tap a square to place your mark, or press the number keys 1 to 9 on a keyboard. Get three in a row across, down or diagonally to win the round.

A tournament has three rounds: the Quarter-final against an Easy CPU, the Semi-final against a Medium CPU and the Final against a Hard CPU. You start the first and third rounds, and the CPU starts the second. Win all three to become champion. If a game ends in a draw, it is replayed with the starting player swapped, and after three draws in a row the round is awarded to you. Lose a round and you are out, though you can choose to replay that round. Even the Hard CPU can slip up now and then, so it can be beaten.

Tips: take the centre when you can, then a corner. Always check whether the CPU is about to complete a line and block it. When you move first, try to create two threats at once.
